Weather:There's not much change between July and August. Although the rainfall situation should be better at the end of the month, you should still expect heavy rains in Yangon whenever you travel there during this time. The temperature is at an average of 27°C (81°F), which is quite good.
Clothing: Always take an umbrella and clothing designed to prevent you from getting wet;this is the most important advice we can give if you want to travel in August. As temperatures remain high, you will need shorts and T-shirts.
Low season: Visitor numbers can be quite low due to the heavy rain. You can still visit Yangon in August, but it is not the best month to travel.
Things to Do
The heavy rain keeps your plans limited, so most travelers choose to visit indoor resorts. However, if you are lucky enough to find a window of good weather, it's a wonderful opportunity to take some pictures as Yangon's landscape at this time is really beautiful.
Relax at Kandawgyi Lake
Kandawgyi Lake, formerly named Royal Lake, is one of two major lakes in Yangon. The lake covers 150 acresand is surrounded by the 110-acre Kandawgyi Nature Park and a 69.25-acre zoological garden, which includes a zoo, an aquarium, and an amusement park.
Such a large lake with apeaceful environment, fresh air, and cool breezeis a good choice when considering where to dine. Luckily, you can find a number of pleasant restaurants and cafés around the lake. You can choose to dine there for Western or local food. .
What is even more attractiveis its good location. Karaweik Palace, one of the most famous attractions in Yangon, is on the eastern shoreline of the lake, and the Shwedagon Pagoda is just 20minutes away. The Sule Pagoda, Yangon Chinatown, and other attractions are also situated nearby.
If you would like to take advantage of the good location and beauty, you can even choose to book a hotel located inside the park, although it will be overpriced.

Fantastic tour of Angkor Wat and Siem Reap
![]() We had a fantastic time here in Siem Reap with our guide Chhong and our driver Nikol. We had some issues with pouring rain for our sunrise tour and he quickly pivoted to rescheduling the following day and still getting it fit into our three day stay. Super informative and very gracious. Would definitely recommend this tour company for your visit! More

Explore the History of Karaweik Palace
With the start of its construction in June 1972 and its completionin 1974, Karaweik Palace resembles the form of the Royal Barge, facing the great Shwedagon Pagoda. The word Karaweik comes from a mythical bird, which makes this building more attractive.
Before the construction began, when the locals discussed the location of Karaweik Palace, there were two choices: Mandalay and Yangon. The people decided to build it in Yangon because the city had witnessed a lot ofdevelopment during the colonial period and this process was how Yangon became famous and known internationally.
Now, Karaweik Palace, as one of the 10 Arts of Myanmar Culture, has become a landmark of Yangon aswell asof Myanmar. You can see many products or currency with the image of Karaweik Palace, showing the importance and great meaning of this building.
It is free to enter if you just want to take some pictures of it, but please remember to book a table if you want to dine in the building.
Do Some Shopping in Bogyoke Market
Located in the center of Yangon and having existed for almost 100 years, you can find various types of souvenirs and local food in Bogyoke Market. As the weather is not always as good as expected, it is not a bad idea to visit this market.
If you are interested in collecting coins, banknotes, postage stamps, and medals, they can be found on the ground floor. You can also find handicrafts, wood carvings, and many other items with cultural meanings.
Apart from that, Bogyoke Market is a really good market for women to visit, as it is famous for itsfood and clothing. Various special styles of silk, cotton fabrics, and clothing always attract women. After trying on some clothes, it's then a great idea to go shopping in the jewelry stores.
Then, try some of the tastylocal foodthat's waiting for you, such as fried noodles, vermicelli dishes, and pig organs.
Address:Bogyoke Aung San Road, Pabedan 11143, Yangon, Myanmar
Opening hours: 9am–5pm
Transportation:about a ½-hour walk from the Shwedagon Pagoda
