The rains have well and truly arrived by the time July rolls around in the Philippines. While it's not as wet as it is during August, it is still one of the wettest months of the year.
Top-rated tourist destinations such as Boracay and Luzon receive incredibly high levels of rainfall, while other favorites like Cebu remain relatively well-sheltered from the worst of the rainy season. Temperatures are also on the warmer side, with highs of 31°C (88°F) and lows of 24°C (75°F) forecasted for the month in the Philippines.
July is also part of the low season for tourism in the Philippines. It's wet, local schools are back in session, and the lack of festivals taking place during this time, means that both local and foreign tourists shy away from exploring this beautiful country during July.
The low season needn't deter you from traveling to the Philippines during this month, though, because the low season also brings with favorable prices on almost everything including accommodation and transportation.
An abundance of rains, warmer temperatures, and higher levels of humidity make it extremely important to dress in light colored clothing made of softer fabrics like linen and cotton, and make sure you have a raincoat, umbrella, and poncho with you at all times, as you never know when it may start pouring.
In addition to the wet-season essentials, make sure your packing list includes plenty of tops and shorts, dresses, skirts and loose-fitting pants, swimwear, sturdy footwear, reef shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and a few scarves that will prove handy in covering your shoulders and legs when visiting churches and temples.
To better understand what the Philippines is like when it comes to climate and weather conditions during the month of July, continue reading below.
The Philippines Weather in July: Overview
- Average temperature range: 24°C (75°F) – 31°C (88°F)
- Rainfall: 140 mm (5.5 inches) in Manila; 120 mm (4.5 inches) in Palawan; 85 mm (3.5 inches) in Cebu; 450 mm (17.5 inches) in Boracay.
- Rainy days: 18 in Manila; 21 in Palawan; 16 in Cebu; 20 in Boracay.
While it certainly rains quite a lot in the Philippines during July, some regions receive more rainfall than others, as is highlighted in the table below. It's also important to note that June through September is the typhoon season in the Philippines and July can be particularly unpredictable and destructive. This is not to say you should avoid all travel to the Philippines during this time; just remember to check weather reports and forecasts to know what conditions are like in your area and your destination.
July, being the height of summer, is marked by warmer average temperatures. You can expect average maximum daytime temperatures to be around 30°C (86°F) in Manila, 29°C (84°F) in Palawan, 29°C (84°F) in Cebu, and 31°C (88°F) in Boracay. As for average minimum nighttime temperatures, these range from 25°C (77°F) in Manila, 26°C (79°F) in Palawan, 25°C (77°F) in Cebu, and 24°C (31°F) in Boracay.
It can be quite wet in the Philippines during July, yes, but if you design your itinerary to avoid the wettest regions in the country and focus on visiting places like Cebu, Siquijor, and Leyte, that remain relatively dry, you can have a nice, quiet, beach holiday for yourself without having to wade through large crowds of tourists anywhere.

She even brought me a special gift this morning because she knew I was looking for a Christmas ornament representative of Thailand. We did not have to think about any of the details. More

Best Places to Visit in the Philippines in July
1.Cebu
Cebu is a great starting off point if you're looking to visit the Philippines because you're interested in diving, snorkeling, swimming, or island-hopping. The best part? Cebu is much drier compared to most other parts of the country during July.
This top-rated island attracts a lot of tourists due to the presence of Whale Sharks in the area. However, we urge caution to anyone looking to partake in tours offering swims with Whale Sharks or at the very least, ask as many questions of the tour companies as are needed before signing yourself up. We ask this because there have been countless reports of these Whale Sharks being overfed by humans in an effort to prevent them from leaving the area. Not migrating is not part of their natural behavior and is detrimental to the long-term prospects of the species.
2.Leyte
Leyte is another island that is not significantly affected by the July rains. It's also home to some stunning beaches, and spots to snorkel or dive from. Attached to Leyte is Biliran, which is home to waterfalls, hot springs, volcanos, and caves, so there's a little bit of everything no matter what you're interested in.
3.Siquijor
The weather in Siquijor is also favorable during July. It's not as wet as most other parts of the country, and much cooler too. As the third smallest island, Siquijor may not get the love it deserves from international tourists, but remains a popular tourist destination among Filipinos. The island is home to some stunning beaches, clear waters, and scenic waterfalls, and the fact that it's not a very popular travel destination (but should be!), means you're in for the most relaxing time ever, if that's what you're in the mood for.
July Crowds and Costs
July is also part of the low season insofar as tourism is concerned in the Philippines. The fact that it's raining in most parts of the country, most local schools are back in session by this time, and there aren't as many festivals taking place during the month, results in both local and foreign tourists not visiting the Philippines as much during July.
However, this can be a good thing if you are traveling to the Philippines during July because the low tourism season results in lower prices for accommodation and transportation, whilst also providing travelers with the chance to explore the country in relative peace and quiet.
July Events in the Philippines
Grand Kaliga Festival: July 23rd marks a Filipino thanks-giving celebration in the city of Gingoog. The importance of the festival is etched in celebrating the region's natural abundance and bountiful harvest, and one can see the city's Higaonon and Mabono roots represented in all their glory through street dances and traditional rituals.
What to Wear in the Philippines in July
Temperatures – and rainfall – are both on the higher side during July in the Philippines. The resulting humidity, too, goes up during this time. As such, it's extremely important for you to dress in lighter colored linen or cotton clothes when it's not raining, and make sure you carry with you a raincoat you trust, an umbrella, and a poncho for your backpack and other valuables.
When packing for your July trip to the Philippines, you need to check the following items off your packing list: plenty of shorts and tops, skirts and loose-fitting pants, evening dresses, raincoat, umbrella, poncho, sturdy footwear including sandals and shoes for island hopping, reef shoes for when you go swimming, swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, mosquito repellent, and some scarves that may come in handy in covering your shoulders and legs when visiting temples and churches.
